Week 18

May 1st – 4th

  • Seed fennel.

  • Seed or Transplant Parsley, Onions, and Chinese Cabbage.

  • Plant Figs, Potatoes, and Fingerling Potatoes.

 

Week 19

May 5th – May 11th

Sunday, May 11th – Mother’s Day

  • Seed Broccoli, Snap Beans, Head Lettuce, Leaf Lettuce, Winter Squash, Summer Squash, Cucumber, Late Celery, Sweet Corn, Cilantro, Bok Choy, and Thyme.

  • Transplant Tomatoes.

  • Apply broadleaf weed control in lawns.

 

Week 20

May 12th – May 18th

  • Seed Annual Flowers, Borage, Lima Beans, and Sweet Corn.

  • Transplant Melons, Peppers, Okra, and Cabbage.

  • Plant Sweet Potatoes.

  • Harvest Scapes from Hardneck Garlic and Asparagus.

  • Remove Strawberry Blossoms on Newly Transplanted Plants.

  • Fertilize Houseplants.

 

Week 21

May 19th – May 25th

  • Seed Lemon Cucumbers.

  • Transplant or Seed Basil and Eggplant.

  • Install Row Covers to Protect Cabbage and Broccoli from Insects.

  • Prune Azaleas, Viburnum, Lilac, and Forsythia after Blooming.

  • Tip Primocane Blackberry Canes at 36 Inches Tall.

  • Begin Cucumber Beetle Control Measures.

  • Turn Compost.

 

Week 22

May 26th – May 31st

Monday, May 26th – Memorial Day

  • Seed Leaf Lettuce as a Trellised Cucumber Companion.

  • Seed Broccoli and Roma Beans.

  • Plant Asparagus Beans, Herbs, and Jack-O-Lantern Pumpkins.

  • Trellis Cucumbers.

  • Stake and Mulch Tomatoes.
