June 30th to July 6th
Friday, July 4th – Independence Day
Seed Half-Runner and Pole Beans, Late Cabbage and Cauliflower, Endive, Beets, and Late Sweet Corn.
Harvest Summer Squash Frequently.
Watch for early and late tomato blight.
Plant grape or cherry tomatoes for fall.
Order garlic cloves for fall planting.
Week 28
July 7th to July 13th
Seed Dill
Turn Compost
Watch for Japanese beetles.
Order garlic seed.
Plant napa Chinese cabbage.
Remove raspberry canes after fruiting.
Harvest new potatoes with tender skins.
Seed borage.
Pinch the top of black raspberry canes.
For the largest flowers, remove side shoots from main stem.
Week 29
July 14th to July 20th
Harvest summer squash frequently.
Seed collards and kale for fall.
Don’t let weeds go to seed.
Transplant cauliflower, broccoli and Swiss chard.
Seed fall cucumbers.
Seed wildflowers as beneficial insect and pollinator attractant around perimeter of garden.
Plant peppers for fall crop.
Seed summer squash for fall crop.
Week 30
July 21st to July 27th
Take cuttings from herbs.
Mulch garden to conserve soil moisture.
Water young trees and shrubs during dry periods.
Pinch basil to retain four pairs of leaves per plant.
Transplant Brussels sprouts.
Add non-seedbearing weeds to compost.
Week 31
July 28th to July 31st
Seed beets.
