While some people look for unique houseplants, some folks want to grow big. There’s a wide (and tall) selection of massive houseplants to choose from. Here are some of the “big” names on the houseplant scene right now.

#FOMO a.k.a. “Fear of Missing Out” is something growers and garden centers didn’t expect to see a few years ago with the Instagram-fueled rise of houseplants. Some old favorites, like snake plant, are enjoying a comeback, but there is also a push to find the photogenic weird and wonderful. Here are five unique houseplants you probably haven’t seen.

Caring for Christmas Cacti
Christmas cacti, known as Schlumbergera or Zygocactus, blooms at Christmas and also sometimes around Easter if cared for properly. A month prior to Christmas you will be able to watch the tips of the leaves begin to grow and form buds. At Christmas, as if by magic, the buds open to a beautiful flower that will add color and warmth to any holiday season.

Caring for Hippeastrum
Hippeastrum have large extravagant trumpet shaped blooms on tall thick stems. In general they will produce 2 stems with at least 4 large flowers per stem making an impressive display. Popular around Christmas and New Year, they flower easily and their showy flowers are sure to brighten up any room or Christmas dining table.
